Ordained in the Wesleyan Church, Mark has served local churches and universities in the areas of worship and discipleship for over twenty years. He holds both a masters and doctoral degree from Asbury Theological Seminary and is passionate about seeing people become whole persons through following Jesus, discipleship and micro-community relationships.

“Transformation in and Through Relationship”

This talk will unpack how the fall has created a tragic alienation within human beings in the place of relationship. First with God, then with ourselves, then with each other, and then with creation. The great wounds we carry cause us to suffer in relationships, and by God's design he redeems and restores us only in and through relationships.  However, it's a particular kind of relationship we most need in order to become whole. This talk will explore those, and help prepare us for seeking those kinds of relationships out.

Noon – Lunch on your own – there are many restaurants near the church

1:15pm – 3:00pm Workshops

#1 – Mark Benjamin – “Band Together: How a Discipleship Band Is an Essential Need for Every Christian “

More than perhaps ever before, we are learning that the church is not the building, the programs, or even our ability to gather in mass. The church in its most fundamental form is where two or three gather in Jesus' name. How we gather and what we practice when we gather makes all the difference in terms of transformation and discipleship. Discipleship bands are groups of three to five people who read together, meet together, and pray together to become the love of God for one another and the world. Bands are all about creating a safe and honest relational context where we can grow as disciples of Jesus. Come join Mark Benjamin, to learn more about this model and how to begin to implement this in your church or ministry. Topics will include: why we band, what is a band, how to get started, the seven commitments of a discipleship band, and sustaining growth as a band.

#2 – Bruce Johnson - “The Protocol and What Comes After”

Learn about the Protocol of Reconciliation and Grace through Separation that will be voted on at the 2022 General Conference.

#3 – Steve Hay – “Simple Church Model”

Exhausted? Not sure if your congregation is making disciples of Jesus for the transformation of the world?  The "Simple Church" model is a tool to help you be faithful, fruitful, and confident in your church's ministry.
